Sometimes the jargon that goes along with the transportation beat can be a little overwhelming. Take a meeting I attended this morning as an example.

At the JPAC meeting a plan was discussed on how to pay off a bond through MTIP funds for the PMLR in order to get the most out of the matching funds promised by the FTA.

Now in layman terms: This morning the approved a measure to use money from the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program to pay off a bond that would be used to find additional funding for the Portland-Milwaukie Light-Rail Project in order to get the most out of a dollar for dollar match for the project, as agreed upon by the Federal Transit Administration.

Next week I’m attending a few meetings on the CRC, and I’m waiting to hear if the groups involved in the project took all of the IRP recommendations to heart and included them in the new work plan. The CRC and the Sellwood Bridge Project are also awaiting results of the EIS for the projects.

Now in layman terms: I’ll attend a meeting next week on the Columbia River Crossing bridge project and wondering if they took into account all of the Independent Review Panel’s suggestions for the project. I’m also anxiously awaiting the results of this and the Sellwood Bridge Project’s environmental impact statement.

OMG I think my head just fell off. JK, LOL
