A scene from CSI or from a Hitchcock movie?  Strangely enough, it’s a project that is out for bid which is actually called, “Alfred A. Loeb Hand Severing/Pruning/Topping/Chipping”.

Alfred A. Loeb State Park contains a stand of old growth native myrtle trees in a designated campground and day-use area located on the banks of the Chetco River in Curry County.  A murderous fungus, Ganoderma applanatum, has caused most of the trees to have heart rot and also causes limited internal decay near a wound on the trees.  Most of the trees have been removed, leaving many stump sprouts.  The objective of this project is to remove, prune and top existing hazard trees and thin out myrtle sprouts.

The “Instructions to Bidders” includes information on what to do if there are any “Emergencies,” and item 15 is regarding “Severability”.
