Metro is accepting bids to provide general contracting services and maintenance for parks facilities, solid waste facilities, PCPA facilities, the Oregon Zoo, the St. Johns landfill, the Expo Center and the Metro Regional Center.

Interested contractors must have experience performing building alterations, reading blueprints, installing walls and Sheetrock, painting, pulling permits, working with building codes, performing carpentry work and tile work, installing door hardware, installing doors and re-lights, installing roofs, working with subcontractors, performing general contractor duties, working with architects and engineers, altering and installing parking lot structures, installing acoustical ceilings, installing insulation, performing ADA-related work, and performing other general construction duties as requested.

In addition to the scope of work, the contract shall offer low-Volatile Organic Compound products, sustainable opportunities, and meet all existing and future building standards.

The contractor will be required to provide an estimate for work requested prior to commencement of work unless emergency services are needed. The contractor must conform to all of the city of Portland’s recycling programs and any existing or future Metro sustainability plan guidelines.

The winning contractors will be required to obtain a Metro badge and pass a background check. The term of the contract is anticipated to be May 2011 through May 2013, with the option to renew the contract for additional terms, and will not exceed a total of five years.
