Tomorrow you聽have the opportunity to walk through the聽Hallock聽& McMillan Building, which was built in 1857.聽The building聽is聽stripped down to its聽shell right now, so you will be able to see some of the original聽cast-iron and other historic features before the building is restored and turned into office space.
Apparently, the building may have been one of Portland’s first “design-build” entities – Absalom Hallock designed it, William McMillan built it, then the two shared tenancy.
More interesting facts are sure to come out of the 鈥溾 tomorrow, Thursday, July 14 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. For members of the Architectural Heritage Center, the cost is $15; for the general public, it鈥檚 $20.
The Architectural Heritage Center will also be serving refreshments and handing out door prizes.
