I know we’ve all been mostly waiting for the Burlingame Fred Meyer renovation to be over because we’re all tired of driving to Beaverton every time we go grocery shopping. We’re all in that boat.
But if any of the many people in that situation can look up from the current horrible state of affairs and glance at the horizon, there is something wonderful there. A new Barbur Safeway!
The newsroom was just looking at a photo of the current Safeway that sits at Barbur Boulevard between Multnomah and Capitol Hill Roads, and the description that popped to mind was “the Safeway that time forgot.” It’s not a pretty site.
But a pretty one is coming! Check out the Group Mackenzie-designed new Safeway below, and read my story about the saga of bike lanes with the renovation project.
