Next month marks the third annual Portland and Design Festival, a series of events where architecture enthusiasts can celebrate and learn about design in Portland.

91ÊÓÆµ start tonight with the and run through Oct. 31.

So tonight, you can kick off the festivities with the Portland chapter of the American Institute of Architects at 403 N.W. 11th Ave. You’ll get a glimpse of everything that’s planned for the month, as well as some swanky music, cocktails and  hors d’ouevres. It starts at 6:30 p.m., and it’s $5 at the door.

If you can’t make it, here’s a run down of some of the events next month:

Sat., Oct. 1. : A rare opportunity to peek inside six examples of fantastic residential architecture in Portland, including designed by Portland architect Pietro Belluschi. (PS: PDX Pipeline is giving away a pair of tickets to this – an $80 value. You can enter by commenting on .

Sat., Oct. 15. : Photographer Josh Partee will take you on a two-hour walking tour of the most photogenic structures in Northwest Portland, and he’ll offer tips on how to improve your architecture photography skills. Price: $20.

Thu., Oct. 27. : Guess who’s turning 100? Oregon, that’s who. Ring in its centennial at the Portland Art Museum where you will also see the show for the AIA Portland Design Awards. Price: $100 for full gala evening, $35 for awards program.
