This is fun. A video contest for Oregon students is held every year by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services. This year, 11 videos – shot like public service announcements – were named finalists. We took the liberty of watching them all and choosing which one we think should be the winner.

But first, let me just say that we have some budding filmmakers in our Oregon high schools. The videos run the gamut from to . A handful of videos include some quite impressive special effects – I’m still trying to figure out how they . Oh, and one group .

The theme of the contest was “Save a Friend. Work Safe.” While many of the students took a pretty literal approach to the challenge, others were more creative and nuanced. And those were our favorites. We give big cinematic props to the group behind “.” So subtle, yet so effective. And the camerawork – superb.

But our overall favorite had to be this slick and witty video featuring a mustachioed member of The Safety Police. Watch:
