Craig Leis鈥� work for the community is so impressive that he was chosen from more than 900 attorneys in Littler Mendelson鈥檚 50-plus offices to earn the title of Volunteer of the Quarter for spring 2011.

Leis is on the board of the Oregon chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as well as the Oregon Board of Bar Examiners, where he handles requests for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

He serves on the Multnomah Bar Association鈥檚 Golf Committee, which organizes golfing events to benefit the Volunteer Lawyers Project for the Oregon Legal Aid Society. He is also a member and pro bono volunteer for Mazamas, the state鈥檚 oldest mountain climbing organization.

As an employment lawyer at Littler Mendelson, Leis measures his success by getting the best possible outcome for his clients, and he has obtained numerous summary judgments on their behalf. He also helps clients comply with complicated employment laws, with the goal of 鈥渉elping to keep the clients鈥� employees happy and productive and avoid lawsuits.鈥� He is also a public speaker on a variety of employment issues and has published stories in the Portland Business Journal.

鈥淗is level of community involvement and volunteerism is inspiring,鈥� said Neil Olsen of the Zupancic Rathbone Law Group in his letter of nomination for Leis.

At his day job, Leis represents employers in labor and employment litigation cases in state and federal courts and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries and other state and federal agencies.
