Martin 鈥淢arty鈥� Houston serves as director of learning and development at Walsh Construction Co., where he has transformed organizational education through strategic initiatives and technical expertise.

A licensed architect with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, Houston is a LEED Accredited Professional and certified Building Science Thermographer. His specialization includes high-performance building envelopes and emerging technologies for envelope commissioning and diagnostics.

Previously, Houston served as quality director for Walsh, where he implemented firmwide Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures, reviewed drawings and specifications during preconstruction, and advised teams on constructability and performance.

In his current role, Houston launched and scaled a robust Learning Management System housing more than 200 Autodesk training modules. He developed the Great Teams initiative, a framework for creating respectful workplace culture centered on inclusion, safety and accountability. Houston also leads Walsh鈥檚 Alderbrook company-wide training event, a two-day interactive learning experience focused on strategic planning and organizational alignment.

Houston founded and leads the Walsh Climbing Club, which has successfully summited Mt. Hood nine times since 2014. He serves as leader of Walsh鈥檚 internal Toastmasters chapter. He has presented at numerous Building Science symposiums, served nearly a decade on the board of the Portland Building Enclosure Council, and taught as instructor pro tem at the University of Oregon.
