The facility at 190 Oak St. opened in 1995 with a 25-yard-by-25-meter pool with a water slide and rope swing. The center has an on-deck spa, a wading pool for small children and a sauna in each locker room.

This project consists of refinishing two pools, replacing deck trench drains, and performing miscellaneous upgrades. Work is scheduled to begin no later than Sept. 6 and be substantially completed by Sept. 26.

The city of Springfield is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to provide exterior painting services for Springfield City Hall and a historic depot.

The contractor shall supply all necessary preparation, installation, supplies, equipment, materials and cleanup necessary for the project. Work includes surface preparation, cleaning, removal of defective coatings, surface repair and painting. Operations will include, but not be limited to: erection and removal of necessary scaffolding or lifts, protection of public from operations, protection of materials that remain, and cover of surrounding area with plastic or drop cloths to collect debris caused by the preparation and painting process.

The Springfield depot was built in the 1890s by Southern Pacific. The building is a Southern Pacific standard No. 22 Victorian/stick-style structure. The depot’s original first-floor design contained a lobby, ticket office, passenger waiting room and freight office. The second story served as living quarters for the stationmaster and his family.

The city purchased the aging depot building in 1988 and moved it to its current location in September 1989. After an extensive restoration, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce moved its offices into the historic building.

The city’s intention is to award the project to one contractor, but the bid is to be divided into two sections: section 1 for Springfield City Hall and section 2 for the depot. The contract is scheduled to be awarded on or around July 14.

The Central Kitsap School District is accepting bids for kitchen freezer improvements at Central Kitsap Junior High School and a food service/warehouse facility.

The project consists of the demolition of an existing reach-in cooler and walk-in freezer at Central Kitsap Junior High School and the installation of new freezers at the school and a food service/warehouse facility. Work includes installation of a forklift maneuverable freezer, associated work, and mechanical and electrical connections. In addition, the project calls for minor interior repairs and installation of a chain-link fence at the school.

Site access will be granted by the school district on July 7 to begin mobilization and construction activities. Final completion for work at the school is scheduled for Sept. 9 and final completion for work at the food service/warehouse facility is scheduled for Oct. 12.

The city of Banks is accepting proposals from qualified firms to provide design-build services for the Banks Public Library interior remodel project. Firms are invited to submit a proposal outlining their experience, qualifications and budget to perform the work related to the services required.

The Banks Public Library was constructed in 1996 and is approximately 3,000 square feet. The plan is to expand into the building’s adjacent meeting room portion. The east exterior canopy area will be enclosed to create a new entry vestibule, the interior vestibule and workroom will be removed, the drinking fountains will be relocated, and two new offices will be constructed. Lighting, mechanical systems and interior finishes need to be updated.

Work will be phased in order to maintain most library operations during interior renovations. The interior work can be done during normal business hours in areas separated from public access and phased to work with library operations. Heavy-noise construction (saw cutting, hammering and demolition) should take place outside normal operating hours and end before 10 a.m. to avoid interference with staff preparation. Coordination of construction scheduling with library functions should be considered a priority.

The contract is scheduled to be awarded on Aug. 9, with construction expected to begin Sept. 20 and be completed by Dec. 22.

Metro is accepting bids to provide general contracting services and maintenance for parks facilities, solid waste facilities, PCPA facilities, the Oregon Zoo, the St. Johns landfill, the Expo Center and the Metro Regional Center.

Interested contractors must have experience performing building alterations, reading blueprints, installing walls and Sheetrock, painting, pulling permits, working with building codes, performing carpentry work and tile work, installing door hardware, installing doors and re-lights, installing roofs, working with subcontractors, performing general contractor duties, working with architects and engineers, altering and installing parking lot structures, installing acoustical ceilings, installing insulation, performing ADA-related work, and performing other general construction duties as requested.

In addition to the scope of work, the contract shall offer low-Volatile Organic Compound products, sustainable opportunities, and meet all existing and future building standards.

The contractor will be required to provide an estimate for work requested prior to commencement of work unless emergency services are needed. The contractor must conform to all of the city of Portland’s recycling programs and any existing or future Metro sustainability plan guidelines.

The winning contractors will be required to obtain a Metro badge and pass a background check. The term of the contract is anticipated to be May 2011 through May 2013, with the option to renew the contract for additional terms, and will not exceed a total of five years.

This project consists of Bid Package No. 2 for the new Lewis Integrative Science Building at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The building will be constructed on the north side of the campus, north of Deschutes and Oregon halls and east of Streisinger Hall, along Franklin Boulevard.

The 100,000-square-foot science building will include labs, collaborative spaces and offices for approximately 45 faculty members. The building’s design is expected to enhance the university’s ability to bring together researchers from different fields to share instruments in one building. Space will be used for brain research, cognitive neuroscience, green materials science, nanotechnology research and solar energy technology. The building also will house a new, advanced MRI device.

Bid Package No. 2 consists of site concrete, landscaping, masonry, precast, metal fabrication, finish carpentry, laboratory specialties, sheet metal, curtain wall, glass, roofing, interior finishes, fire sprinklers, and other work.

The total building construction cost is approximately $65 million, and the target for occupancy is 2012. State bonds will provide approximately $30 million, the most ever invested by the state in an academic building at the University of Oregon. Donations and grants also are helping pay for the project, and fund-raising is continuing.

The project consists of the construction of Oswego Lakefront Park, a new urban park to be located on State Street between the Lakeshore Inn and Lake Twin Theater Building, the site of the former US Bank, in Lake Oswego. The project will feature a lakefront promenade, a rain garden, gas fireplace, a park structure containing public restrooms and storage, benches, bike racks and city artwork.

The work consists of demolition of existing pavements, curbs, decking and piling; traffic control; shoring, coffer dam and dewatering system design, construction, monitoring, maintenance and removal; new seawall; clearing and grubbing; earthwork; erosion control; utilities, including sanitary sewer, gas, and water; storm drainage; rain garden; street frontage improvements; cast-in-place concrete pavement, curbs and other miscellaneous concrete work and walls; precast concrete; stone masonry stairs, walls, and columns; unit concrete paving; site furnishings; installation of artwork; irrigation; planting; new park structure; outdoor gas fireplace; arbor; metal guardrails, gates, gate fins, railings and handrails; electrical work lighting; and temporary job sign.

A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at 2 p.m., Jan. 7, at Lake Oswego City Hall Council Chambers, 380 A Avenue, Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Estimated cost of the project is $2.2 million.

The Port of Portland is soliciting proposals from experienced engineering firms capable of providing consultation, preliminary engineering, cost estimating and scheduling for Phase 2 development at the Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park.

Located between the Columbia and Sandy Rivers and bordered by the Troutdale Airport, the Troutdale Reynolds Industrial Park is the port’s newest industrial park and is within the cities of Troutdale and Fairview. With the initial sale of 78 acres of the industrial park to FedEx Ground in 2008, the former brownfield site is being transformed into a thriving jobs center for a mix of industrial uses.

Reynolds Metals Co. operated an aluminum reduction plant on the site until July 2002, and the plant was demolished between 2003 and 2006. The site was placed on the National Priorities List in December 1994, making it a Superfund site.

Reynolds Metals Company completed site clean up to allow for industrial development and built a focus extraction/production well optimization system to clean up fluoride groundwater contamination. This system will take several years to complete the groundwater clean up. The port purchased the 700-acre Reynolds Metal Co. site in 2007, and the operation and maintenance of the system and groundwater monitoring was transferred to the port in January 2008.

The port plans to develop 366 acres for industrial use, and development is planned for three phases over 10 years. The balance of the site will be preserved or enhanced as wetlands and open spaces. Some of the site is encumbered by high-voltage power lines which limit opportunities for development.

A pre-proposal conference will be held at 9 a.m., Jan. 7, at the Troutdale Maintenance Building, 1350 N.W. Perimeter Way, in Troutdale.  Announcement of the successful proposer is scheduled for Feb. 16.

This project consists of the remodel addition of the single-story WinCo grocery store No. 9 at 11250 S.E. 82nd Ave. in Happy Valley.

Work includes concrete foundations, CMU walls, steel structural columns and steel bar joists roof framing, single-ply roofing membrane, interior concrete floor slabs and exterior concrete slabs and walkways, storefront framing and entrances, exterior canopy(ies) and finishes, interior framing and finishes, plumbing and HVAC, electrical and fire sprinkler systems, woodwork, casework, miscellaneous fixtures,  pallet racking and gondola installation.

The owner has awarded separate contracts for some of the interior/exterior signage and refrigeration systems. HVAC roof-top units and the main HVAC air handler unit will be provided by the owner, but the contractor will install the HVAC units. These operations will be conducted simultaneously with work under this contract.

All work will be completed within 196 consecutive calendar days.

Bend-La Pine Schools, Administrative School District No. 1, is requesting proposals from experienced construction managers and general contractors to remodel the kitchen and auditorium at Bend Senior High School in Bend. The Board of Directors has chosen the CM/GC approach over the more traditional design-bid-build approach due to the need to accelerate the work and assure budget control.

The 2006 Bond Construction Management Plan includes construction of an approximately 4,000-square-foot addition to the existing kitchen with a complete remodel of the existing space. Also included is a remodel to the auditorium, including replacement of seats, new carpet, paint, light fixtures, other finishes and possibly air conditioning.

It is anticipated that the work may involve multiple bid packages. In addition, it is expected that wherever possible, the bid packages will contain separate trade contracts, with the CM/GC acting as general contractor to these separate subcontractors.

The school district has established a construction budget of $3 million and a scheduled substantial completion date of Aug. 15, 2010.
