Portland’s sordid history with vinyl windows

In today's paper, you can read my story about two new apartment projects on Northwest 23rd Avenue that will be using vinyl windows. Vinyl windows have a hard time getting approval from Portland's design commission because they are generally cheaper, lower-quality products (compared to alternatives like fiberglass and aluminum) that people think aren't attractive and don't hold up very well.

Besaw’s burger – get it before it’s too late?

I had been wanting to go there, and since it had been on my 鈥淏urger Quest List鈥 (more about that in a minute), I figured I鈥檇 better get there before too much time elapses and it's gone 鈥 or drastically changed.
