Popina Swimwear coming to Pearl

Portland’s Pearl District soon will be home to the largest women’s swimwear store in the Northwest. Popina Swimwear, designed and manufactured in Oregon by Pamela and Will Levenson, will be one of 25 brands sold in the new store.

Streetcar rails tested in Pearl District

The first line on the new Portland Streetcar loop was tested successfully Friday as a streetcar rolled up Northwest 10th Avenue and crossed Lovejoy Street in the Pearl District. The Portland Streetcar Loop Project is creating a 3.3-mile extension of existing Portland Streetcar tracks that opened in July 2001.

Pearl District warehouse renovated for retail

A former one-story warehouse in Portland’s Pearl District is in the middle of an extensive renovation to become a space for retail businesses. The 20,000-square-foot building at the corner of Northwest 14th Avenue and Flanders Street is getting seismic, electrical, HVAC and plumbing upgrades and a new storefront with glass and roll-up doors.

Gerding Edlen Development will give a $66 million renovation to the Meier & Frank warehouse in the Pearl District. The building will be the new headquarters for Vestas-American Wind Technology.

Cleanup plan issued for Portland post office site

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a cleanup plan for the area of land housing the United States Postal Service Processing and Distribution Center, located at 715 N.W. Hoyt St. But the area only needs to be cleaned if Postal Service decides to break ground on the site.

Maddox Building

Pearl office building under construction

Portland's Pearl District has a new office project under construction. The U.S. General Services Administration announced today that construction has begun on the Overton Pearl, a 61,000-square-foot office project to be located at 1455 N.W. Overton St., in Portland.

There will be a new Dr. Martens footwear store in Portland’s Pearl District. Renovation is underway on a 5,000-square-foot space at the corner of West Burnside and Northwest 10th Avenue.

Silent train project begins in the Pearl

Work has started on a project to spare the Pearl District from the din of train horns. Currently, each train that passes through must give four blasts as it approaches a grade crossing. The project will eliminate that requirement at certain crossings.
