Budget line has HQ hotel talks heating up

The Portland Development Commission has included $3.2 million in its proposed budget for the 2011-12 fiscal year to help move forward the development of a large hotel near the Oregon Convention Center. The project, previously proposed as a 600-room hotel, was sidelined in 2009 because of the recession.

Piedmont Place project resurrected

Local developer Tom Walsh Jr. has submitted paperwork to the city of Portland for a 24-lot subdivision on a 0.79-acre parcel at the corner of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Rosa Parks Way in North Portland. Walsh is planning a two-phase development, with 16 units of affordable rowhomes and three mixed use buildings.
