POWER LIST: ARCHITECTURE

Ankrom Moisan’s focus is on capturing and preserving a site’s essence into architecture.
The firm’s giant leap came from designing much of Portland’s Pearl District. Over the years, Ankrom Moisan has designed 18 buildings in the district, including The Rodney, a 16-story residential tower, and The Ramona, a 230,742-square-foot affordable housing building.
Managing Design Principal Michael Great said that much of the firm’s design approach stems from its buildings in the Pearl District. Before pen hits paper, Ankrom Moisan’s design team dives into a site’s history and lets that information – along with the site itself – guide the design.
250 Taylor, a modern 10-story office building completed in 2020, sits on the Yamhill Historic District’s edge. As a nod to its historic neighbors, the firm used terra cotta on the exterior and mixed it with long-pane windows.
Another recent project is an agricultural-style building under construction at Reed’s Crossing in Hillsboro.
