The University of Oregon campus has been a locus of activity for Hoffman.

Hayward Field reopened in the spring after a nearly three-year overhaul that cost an estimated $270 million (according to a Wall Street Journal report) and was funded by private donors.

Hoffman also completed the first phase of the university鈥檚 new Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact in December 2020. A 160,000-square-foot building is the development鈥檚 anchor.

Currently, Hoffman is building in Goose Hollow the new Lincoln High School 鈥� a project valued at more than $200 million. The firm is also the general contractor for the Portland Water Bureau鈥檚 multiyear Washington Park Reservoir project, which is expected to produce a new 12.4 million-gallon reservoir in 2024.

鈥淲e bring big company resources with a small-company feel,鈥� said Dan Drinkward, vice president of Hoffman Construction. 鈥淲e鈥檙e based here, the decision-makers are here, and we鈥檙e a flat organization where every project has an owner of the company that is empowered to make decisions engaged directly in the project.

鈥淪o we can bring in the resources that are similar to some of the large, national firms, but we鈥檙e very local.鈥�

Drinkward said he expects data center and manufacturing projects and major public projects to continue to provide work into next year. As other contractors have experienced, labor supply has been an ongoing obstacle, he said.
