Turner Construction is one of the largest general contractors in the United States. In 2020, the firm鈥檚 revenues exceeded $14 billion. While headquartered in New York, Turner has roots in Portland that run deep. Its office has performed some of the city鈥檚 greatest hits, such as the U.S. Bancorp Tower and plaza as well as the recent $60.75 million expansion of Providence Park.

Turner鈥檚 scale allows the firm to provide a local office a level of resources that is unparalleled, according to Business Development Manager Eddie La Berge. Currently, Turner is working on the $235 million expansion of Salem Hospital, which will gain 150 beds. The project is complicated, La Berge said, because it鈥檚 a seven-story addition in the middle of a hospital complex and work is taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Portland鈥檚 West End, passersby can see curtain wall being constructed for a new 24-story tower not far from Block 216. 11W, led by Turner, will reach approximately 300 feet and have 222 market-rate apartments as well as 100,000 square feet of office space.

The general contractor has also worked on several expansion projects with mass-timber elements at the Adidas campus. Those include the five-story, 172,000-square-foot North Building with a unique hybrid (concrete and wood) structural system as well as the three-story, 31,000-square-foot South Building with all mass timber. In 2020, the three-story glazed structure looking out over the company鈥檚 famous 鈥淪uper Star鈥� shoe sculpture won in the office (new construction) category for TopProjects.
