LRS Architects focuses its designs on the end user.

鈥淲e are a multi-studio firm with diverse regional projects,鈥� managing principal Janice Sanada said.

For The Springs at Lake Oswego, a senior living community that opened in late 2019, LRS designed outdoor rooms and a roof deck, bringing the indoors outdoors 鈥� something that proved a fortunate move in light of the later onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Areas were designed for outdoor dining and socializing. A dog park and a flexible space for yoga and other activities were included.

鈥淪enior living is so much about the experience,鈥� Sanada said.

One of LRS鈥� recent designs was for the Wingspan Event & Conference Center in Hillsboro 鈥� a 90,000-square-foot structure made from cross-laminated timber that was completed last summer. The design honors Washington County鈥檚 architectural heritage and high-tech present, and the area鈥檚 diverse population, Sanada said.

The firm also designed The Aria 鈥� a six-story, 120-apartment building set to open soon in downtown Vancouver, Washington.

LRS鈥� pipeline has remained strong despite the pandemic, Sanada said. Recently the firm has seen an uptick in interest in new projects.
