P&C Construction has long focused on community-minded projects such as libraries, schools and affordable housing. Now the Portland-based contractor is bringing new approaches to traditional project types.

Many of P&C鈥檚 projects are about people gathering together. In eastern Multnomah County, P&C is building Fairview Food Plaza. In Tigard, P&C will build the city鈥檚 Universal Plaza, a long-awaited project that鈥檚 regarded as a catalyst for future development. Also in Tigard, the firm is constructing Art Rutkin Elementary School.

P&C has recently begun to work with cross-laminated timber as a primary construction material. The firm used CLT extensively at the Robert Libke Public Safety facility for the Oregon City Police Department. The 34,000-square-foot structure, completed in 2020, has CLT for its walls and roof structure. Earlier, P&C used CLT material for Lot Whitcomb Elementary School in Milwaukie.

P&C is anticipating a 30 percent increase in revenue in 2022, and the company is looking to grow its workforce by 15 percent.

鈥淲e鈥檙e busy, we鈥檙e growing and we鈥檙e staying focused in our markets that we serve,鈥� Vice President Brian Shoemaker said.

P&C is wrapping up work on a new campus at St. Charles Parish for De La Salle North Catholic High School. The project involves renovations to an existing 30,000-square-foot school building and construction of 21,000 square feet of new space.

In Oak Grove, P&C is building a library, a community center and city government offices.

P&C is also the contractor for two affordable housing projects in preconstruction for Sabin Community Development Corporation.
