Raimore Construction has been working in Portland for more than two decades, but you’ll be hearing more about the firm’s work because of two major public transit projects.

Raimore is part of the team behind the Interstate 5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project, a controversial plan to widen 1.8 miles of interstate and construct covers that would allow for development to reconnect North Portland neighborhoods interrupted by the roadway. Raimore is working with Hamilton Construction and Arizona-based Sundt Construction on the project, which is now expected to cost approximately $1.2 billion.

A Black-owned business, Raimore received a major boost from the Division Transit Project, which involves the largest contract ever awarded to a certified minority-owned firm or disadvantaged business enterprise. The TriMet project calls for construction of dozens of new bus stations, protected bike lanes, traffic signal systems and sidewalks on the Southeast Portland thoroughfare.

Raimore, founded by Jeff Moreland Sr. and Andre Raiford, is a persistent behind-the-scenes voice pushing for equity and inclusion in construction contracting, working in concert with organizations such as the National Association of Minority Contractors’ Oregon chapter. Now, with big contracts in hand, Raimore is expected to compete for more large-scale projects.
