PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Jade Apartments will offer 40 affordable housing units in the Jade District, an Asian American business and cultural center in Southeast Portland.
The building will hold 14 one-bedroom units, 11 two-bedroom units, and 15 three-bedroom units. Five units will be regulated for households earning up to 30 percent of the area median income (AMI). All other units will be for households earning up to 60 percent of AMI. Amenities will include two courtyards, a community garden, a play area, a community room and kitchen, a secure mail and package room, management and resident services offices, and on-site parking.
Outreach is being made to Asian and Pacific Islander households. APANO (Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon) will provide culturally specific services for residents.
The project is designed to Earth Advantage silver standards and Portland Housing Bureau green building standards. There will be a full solar array and battery backup system, heat-pump water heaters, a high-efficiency聽HVAC聽system, and an enhanced building envelope and insulation.
Near the site, residents will be able to access TriMet鈥檚 MAX green line and bus service.
Financial contributors to the project include Oregon Housing & Community Services, Banner Bank, Network for Oregon Affordable Housing, Portland Housing Bureau, Metro, Multnomah County, Portland Clean Energy Fund, and Energy Trust of Oregon.
