PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Construction is under way on the three-story, 49,174-square-foot Trinity Place workforce housing development in Sisters. This will be Northwest Housing Alternatives鈥� second affordable housing complex in Central Oregon, joining Quimby Street Apartments in Bend.

Trinity Place will hold 40 apartments with one, two or three bedrooms. Amenities will include a community room, an outdoor seating and barbecue area, a playground, indoor bike storage space, on-site laundry facilities, and private meeting space. Property management and resident services will have offices on-site.

Energy efficient and renewable building systems will include Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHPs), Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs), a high-performance building envelope, and a solar array and backup battery power system.聽The project team will seek National Green Building Standard gold certification.

For Trinity Place, NHA is using 501(c)(3) nonprofit bonds for the first time, allowing broader income ranges and more flexible terms for tenants. The bonds聽were offered at an聽AA- investment-grade聽rating聽provided by聽Standard & Poor鈥檚. The development is planned for people earning between 50 percent and 80 percent of the area median income. Local partnerships helped shape the project to serve families with school-age children and people employed by businesses in agriculture, forestry or ranching.
