Work on the $6.7 million Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge project in Portland's South Waterfront is expected to wrap up in March 2012. The 700-foot-wide bridge over Interstate 5 will include stairs and an elevator large enough to hold bicycles or wheelchairs.

The Oregon Department of Transportation announced yesterday that starting at 3 p.m. today, the historic Columbia River highway over the Sandy River will be closed on the count of witches and werewolves.
