A team including Steve Rosenbaum, CEO of the ad agency Pop Art, as well as brothers and property managers Brian and Brandon Anderson, purchased the Commerce Building from the Chiu 1981 Revocable Trust for $4 million. Both Rosenbaum鈥檚 firm, and the company that the Andersons work for, Pivot Property Management, will both occupy spaces in the building

Yeon Building renovation to bring back ‘art deco feel’

The 15-story Yeon Building was the tallest in Portland when it was constructed on Southwest Fifth Avenue, near Alder Street, in 1911. But after purchasing the building in March, the Jonathan Rose Cos. sought an update to attract tenants, so the group brought on SERA Architects to design a renovation of part of the facade and the lobby, systems and corridors.

The Michael G. Building, at 827 S.W. Second Ave., holds a food court with restaurants like Gandhi鈥檚 An East Indian Caf茅 and Pho PDX. Appropriately, the building鈥檚 beginnings are in historic Chinatown; however, inside, it has the fingerprints of a modern fast food chain. The asking price for the 8,150-square-foot building is $1.1 million. The net operating income is $1.2 million.
