A 22,800-square-foot facility is being designed for the Troutdale Police Department to replace a 50-year-old former bank building on a different site. A $7.5 million bond, approved by voters in November 2010, is paying for the project.

Work on the Interstate 84 bridge over the Sandy River near Troutdale is causing a significant flooding threat, the contractor on the project has learned. The contractor, Hamilton Construction, is working with the Oregon Department of Transportation to minimize the risk, but ODOT offered to cover nearby homeowners' premiums just in case.

The arch rests on two basalt stone-clas piers created by Michael Byrne and is adorned with sculptured bronze salmon donated by local artist Rip Caswell. The public-private team responsible for the project includes general contractor Bremik Construction, Columbia Wire & Iron, the Troutdale Historical
