PROJECT: Portland Rock Gym at Peterkort Towne Square

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A Peterkort Towne Square building formerly occupied by Orchard Supply Hardware is being remodeled to serve Portland Rock Gym. Crews are now tackling the final phase of the three-phase project. The first two phases included a remodel of the existing 55,000-square-foot building, which is now open to the public. That work involved the construction of new exercise areas, yoga rooms, reception desks, offices, and boulder climbing walls. It also involved the additions of restrooms and locker rooms with lockers, showers, and saunas.

The project鈥檚 third phase includes exterior improvements and the addition of an 11,000-square-foot, pre-engineered metal building with an exterior storefront and metal-panel siding. The addition will house 55-foot-tall rope climbing walls. The exterior improvements include modifications to the main entry, exterior canopies, covered and uncovered bike parking, hardscape/landscaping improvements, a new underground stormwater detention system, and a new trash enclosure.

Once completed, Portland Rock Gym will be the largest climbing gym in the United States by building footprint.
