Hoffman Construction has placed a Boeing 747 atop a steel structure at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville. The jumbo jet is the centerpiece of a new water park and educational museum being built on the museum grounds.

Recycled walls

The new home for the Larsen Pediatric Clinic in Northeast Portland will include Faswall walls made by ShelterWorks Ltd. of Philomath. The blocks in the system are made of wood waste ground into chips, mineralized to neutralize the natural sugars that cause rot, and then bonded to cement.

The two-story Oregon College of Art & Craft building in Southwest Portland will house a digital studio, a photo studio, darkrooms, classrooms and offices. The general contractor for the project is Robert Gray Partners and the designer is Charles Rose Architects from Massachusetts.

Boring job in Northwest Portland

The $74 million Balch Consolidation Conduit project consists of digging five shafts and boring 8,500 feet of tunnels to connect the combined sewage and storm-water runoff from the Balch Drainage Basin in Northwest Portland to the West Side Big Pipe and then to the Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Crews from the D&R Masonry Restoration are performing seismic work; repairing decks, beams and columns in the structure; and applying a waterproof coating to the concrete while keeping as many parking spaces open as possible. Work should continue through summer.
