City admits mistake, rescinds award for Fire Station 21

After a competitive proposal process, the city of Portland issued an intent to award a $700,00 design contract to Whelton Architecture, one of four architecture firms short-listed for the project. On Tuesday, the city issued a notice that it was rescinding that award and stepping back in the process to once again conduct interviews with the short-listed candidates.

Uptown Tower renovated

An extensive renovation of the Uptown Tower is now under way at the corner of St. Clair Avenue and West Burnside Street. The eight-story, 72-unit affordable housing building will receive a new eco-roof, siding, windows, paint, entry canopies, exterior finishes and sidewalk upgrades.

Renovation work is beginning on the Chaucer Court Apartments in downtown Portland. The 84-unit senior housing residence is in the Odd Fellows Building, a structure built in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Knoll at the corner of Southwest Hall Boulevard and Hunziker Street in Tigard will have 47 one- and two-bedroom apartments for seniors living on modest means. There will also be a community room and a library.
