Groundbreaking set for Oregon Enginehouse and Rail Heritage Center

Crews from Lorentz Bruun Construction will break ground Oct. 21 for the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation’s Enginehouse and heritage center. The new center, when it opens late next spring, will house historic three steam engines that have been cared for and rehabilitated by the foundation.

The lobby of the Spalding Building in downtown Portland is in the middle of a remodel. The 12-story, 99-year-old building at 319 S.W. Washington St. had lost some of its historic character after several renovations.

Troutdale library

The 6,000-square-foot Troutdale library is now open in the Cherry Park Market Center. The new storefront branch of the Multnomah County Library will house 20,000 books, audio-visual materials, periodicals and computers.

Spalding Building renovation begins next month

After several renovations stripped the Spalding Building of much of its historic character, a design by Hennebery Eddy Architects will give a historic update to the building's lobby.

Portland Transit Mall

The last of the bus shelters from the original Portland Transit Mall construction is being renovated to become a coffee cafe. Caffe Viale will operate the coffee shop that is on Southwest 5th Avenue between Salmon and Main streets.

A new branch of the Multnomah County Library is taking shape in the Cherry Park Market Center in Troutdale. The 20,000-square-foot Troutdale Library will house 20,000 books.
