Streetcar rails tested in Pearl District

The first line on the new Portland Streetcar loop was tested successfully Friday as a streetcar rolled up Northwest 10th Avenue and crossed Lovejoy Street in the Pearl District. The Portland Streetcar Loop Project is creating a 3.3-mile extension of existing Portland Streetcar tracks that opened in July 2001.

Food company moving to Northeast Portland

Classic Foods, which manufactures and distributes specialty foods, spices and herbs, will this fall move into a renovated former warehouse at 817 N.E. Madrona St. in Northeast Portland. The space will have a large production kitchen, a cooler and a freezer as well as a retail space, offices and a patio.

Parking spaces turned green for Park(ing)

Parking spaces were turned into 30 temporary parks in the metropolitan area for five hours during PARK(ing) Day on Friday. The annual event, started five years ago in San Francisco, is focused on creating green space in dense urban areas.
