Roosevelt Hotel undergoes restoration
Restoration work is beginning on the historic Roosevelt Hotel at the corner of Southwest Park Avenue and Salmon Street in downtown Portland. Western Waterproofing Co. is in charge of the project that will restore the terra cotta and replace the cornices of the 90-year-old building.
Pearl District warehouse renovated for retail
A former one-story warehouse in Portland鈥檚 Pearl District is in the middle of an extensive renovation to become a space for retail businesses. The 20,000-square-foot building at the corner of Northwest 14th Avenue and Flanders Street is getting seismic, electrical, HVAC and plumbing upgrades and a new storefront with glass and roll-up doors.
Pacific Highway upgraded
Major intersecting roads in Tigard are being upgraded. The Oregon Route 99W project for the city of Tigard, Washington County and the Oregon Department of Transportation calls for a third through lane for Pacific Highway, turn lanes onto side streets, an extended median, wider sidewalks, new bike lanes, improved pedestrian crossings and wider corners for truck turns.
Cully Street upgraded
Cully Street in Northeast Portland is in the middle of an extensive upgrade. The work between Killingsworth and Prescott streets for the Oregon Department of Transportation and the city of Portland calls for installing a new water main, adding sidewalks, building storm-water swales, installing a traffic signal, and upgrading lighting and landscaping.
Powell鈥檚 Technical Books moving
At the end of September, Powell鈥檚 Technical Books will be moving into Powell鈥檚 Building 2 across the street from the flagship store in Portland鈥檚 Pearl District. Northeast Portland apartments renovated
The Villa de Suenos Apartments in Northeast Portland are undergoing a major renovation because of dry rot and mold. The six-building, 28-unit complex at 6706 N.E. Killingsworth St. is getting new roofs, siding with rain screens, porches, cabinets and interior finishes.
Ranch house renovated to dental office
Space in a 1950s ranch style house in Southwest Portland is getting a complete interior demolition to become a dental office.
Former furniture building renovated
A former office furniture building in Northeast Portland is being renovated for 37,000 square feet of retail and display space.
Water treatment plant building renovated
A 1950s concrete building at the Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant is being transformed into a wet-weather screening facility that will remove particulates in high flow periods.
OHSU child care center under construction
A child care center for Oregon Health & Science University is being created in Portland鈥檚 South Waterfront District. A former 20,000-square-foot warehouse at 3325 S.W. Moody Ave. is getting a new roof and an upgraded exterior as well as a reception area, classrooms, offices and an indoor play area.
Warehouse remodeled for Hair of the Dog Brewing
After an extensive renovation, an 80-year-old warehouse in inner-Southeast Portland is now the home of Hair of the Dog Brewing Co. The 10,000-square-foot space at 61 S.E. Yamhill St. houses a restaurant, a tasting room, offices and a brewing area.
RingSide Steakhouse undergoes remodel
Renovative work is continuing at a Portland dining institution. The RingSide Steakhouse, in business for 66 years at the corner of West Burnside Street and Northwest 22nd Avenue, is being remodeled and gaining an addition. The 3,500-square-foot space will include a larger kitchen, a new wine cellar and a dining room that can be closed off for private functions.
